Augustus Invictus, his father arrested on separate charges; Invictus arrest means bail violation

Augustus Invictus, the neo-Nazi attorney who was just released on bail and faces domestic violence and weapons charges in South Carolina is in a Florida jail on charges of stalking. Meanwhile his attorney father John Gillespie was arrested Saturday on charges that he agreed to pay an undercover agent posing as a 16-year-old girl $100 to have sex with her, according to the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Invictus, 36, whose birth name is Austin Gillespie, was arrested early Tuesday and jailed in Orange County, Fl accused of stalking his wife. He was arrested in December on charges stemming from South Carolina that he had kidnapped his wife and family there and forced them to travel back with him to Florida. He was initially held without bond on those charges as he was considered a flight risk and a threat to his wife who testified she was in fear of her life were he to be released. Despite this, he was granted bond weeks later due to coronavirus concerns with orders not to have any contact with his wife.

According to reports, his wife called the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and reported that he was violating that order and a separate restraining order since being released, using a third party to contact her daily demanding to see their children, and using multiple phone numbers. On Monday, she said Invictus sent a text message to their daughter in which he ordered his wife to bring their kids to Dickson Azalea Park in Orlando, Florida ― “or else.” He had also confronted her at the park on April 7, and had repeatedly contacted their children and according to an affidavit made comments to them about her needing to bring them to him or he would “assume she wants to fight”.

At one point, she relented and brought the children to the park to see Invictus, leaving them with him for an hour. According to the affidavit, When she went to pick them up, she had a conversation with someone at the park. Invictus then told his daughter to take a picture of her mother with the other man, telling his daughter, “your mother is a whore.” Messages from his cell phone also indicated that he solicited other individuals to look for his wife, providing them with pictures of her vehicle and license plate.

Concern for Invictus and violence comes not only from past domestic violence charges from other relationships, but also from his repeated calls for race war in the United States. He was one of the scheduled speakers at the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, VA in August 2017.

Invictus’ arrest comes just days after the unrelated arrest of his father John Gillespie, 71, a Florida criminal defense attorney and one-time candidate for Orange-Osceola public defender. The Orlando Sentinel reports that he had been under investigation since December after a former employee tipped off law enforcement that he was involved in human trafficking, and further investigation suggests that he had been using his law firm to recruit women into prostitution for the past 20 years, according to the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI).

According to the agency, Gillespie would initiate women and juveniles he represented on criminal charges into prostitution or exchange sex acts for legal fees, providing them with illegal drugs and promoting them online as escorts, arranging the prostitution dates and even allowing his home in Melbourne, Florida to be used as a place for them to go for those dates. “John Gillespie became a known source of prostitutes, and began getting a steady stream of prostitution customers,” the MBI said. “John Gillespie and the [confidential informant] would get prostitution customers by going to high tourist areas and handing out business cards.”

Gillespie was introduced to the undercover agent posing as a 16-year-old girl by the informant at his home, and he agreed to pimp her out and feature her in adult webcams. He also offered $100 to have sex with her two days later, when he went to Hilton Garden in Orlando Airport to have sex with the agent, he was arrested.

Gillespie was detained on a charge of human trafficking for commercial sexual activity with a child under 18, violating the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization Act, conspiracy to commit racketeering and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. During a court appearance, he denied any wrongdoing to the judge. “I went there to help that girl try to find a place to live. That’s what I was suckered into going there for,” Gillespie said.

In addition, a co-conspirator, 26-year-old Mark William Featherman, was arrested on charges of racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. He is currently at the Brevard County Jail.

Both Invictus and Gillespie are being held at the Orange County Jail without bond.
