When a person is popped for allegedly possessing child porn, the conditions of his bond is to stay off the internet, and they go on the internet, there some concerns.
Stephen Thomas Farrea, the former neo-fascist Identity Evropa member who went on to be a prominent member of another called Nationalist Social Club (NSC), was out on bail in a child pornography case from last year, has been in jail for almost a month after he was arrested on charges that he violated the conditions of his bond.
Farrea’s violation hearing on Aug. 22 was continued to Sept. 25, and he will remain incarcerated without bail, as he has been since Aug. 5. Last year, Farrea, 35, was arrested after a search of his home in Portsmouth, Rhode Island by law enforcement revealed multiple sexually explicit images of children in a number of electronic devices. Farrea was released on $5,000 surety bail and ordered not to have any contact with children as well as not to use computers, smartphones, or the internet.
According to news reports however, Farrea was seen on live videos and online chat groups on TikTok and Discord.
Farrea eventually told one user his real name and that he’d had, “legal trouble,” in Rhode Island, according to court records, and after Googling his name and seeing his mug shot and arrest record for child pornography charges, the user took a screenshot of him and contacted Portsmouth police.
That user told police that he has been online since earlier this year using names such as “thebearman07,” “flyingkites101,” and “otherg4079,” and was on a number of discussion groups, including one using a racial slur.
After Farrea’s arrest last year, his wife filed for divorce, according to court records. The NSC has not been very active over the past year, with one of the few times they received attention being after some of its members (including leader Chris Hood) being involved in a brawl with New Jersey-based Atlantic Nationalist Club (ANaC) outside the Connecticut home of Charles Netter, a former member who was associated with the ANaC.
Farrea’s lawyer says she is “hopeful” that they can resolve his case.
