Portland Antifascist Cleared of Theft Charges; Neo-Fascists Lose Their So-Called ‘Minds’

We got a lot of love for Luis-Enrique Marquez and we are glad that this nonsense is finally over and he can get back to making the Portland area fash even more miserable!

PORTLAND, OR – An antifascist was cleared yesterday of theft charges stemming from a June 3 altercation during a Patriot Prayer/Proud Boys rally, prompting  Patriot Prayer and Proud Boy members and supporters to openly call for violence in the city against antifa and anyone they deem as supportive of them.

Luis Enrique Marquez was acquitted of second degree theft charges after arguing that the camera bag he was accused of stealing from Kerry Hudson, an associate of Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys, was in the defense of others as Hudson was swinging his bag at others during a scuffle during what the two neo-Fascist groups said was a going away party for Tusitala “Tiny” Toese, one of their more violent members. When the bag was taken, Hudson, who said he was only videotaping the rally and not engaging in any physical confrontation, gave chase and eventually had his bag returned to him, but he ended up in another altercation in the process. Hudson said he knew Marquez beforehand from other Patriot Prayer/Proud Boy members, but Marquez never knew him.

Marquez was arrested for the June 3 incident on June 30 during another Patriot Prayer/Proud Boy rally that also deescalated into a riot. He did plead guilty to a third degree theft charge stemming from him taking a hat from another person. Upon hearing the verdict from the jury on the second degree theft charge, he let out an audible “Woo hoo!” in the courtroom.

During closing arguments, Marquez’s attorney John Schlosser took issue with the chatter from the gallery by members and said, “Your honor, could you please ask the fascists to be quiet and give the same respect given to the state in closing arguments?” One of them responded with a profanity and declared to the judge, “He called us fascist!”, to which Schlosser said, “I did.” Without taking sides, the judge insisted on civility in the courtroom, particularly in the gallery.

The jury deliberated for three hours before rendering their verdict, and out of concerns for their safety, jurors requested police escort to their cars after they were dismissed.

Almost immediately neo-Fascists posted videos promoting conspiracy theories and calls to action. “I’m at the point where there’s no justice, so there’s not going to be any piece,” Hudson said as he called for a rally in Portland of fellow neo-Fascists within the month. He was joined in the video by Patriot Prayer member Haley Adams, who in November held a #HimToo rally in Portland in response to the better known #MeToo movement that has identified men who have been responsible for sexual violence and harassment against women. Coincidentally, Hudson has been seen on video attacking women at rallies.

Despite Hudson saying in the video that he was not looking for violence, supporters have been openly calling for “street justice” on social networks in the wake of the verdict. Some have also accused Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler of being supportive of antifa behind the scenes.

“Violence in our city is only brought by one side….ever,” Marquez wrote in a Facebook post. “Which side has been killing people since the 80’s? The time is now, the intent of the right is now clear, there is no misunderstanding…..they intend to hurt us, violently. All of us….you either defend with us or are against us. There is no more time. It has run out.”
