Patriot Front Members Pollute Environmental Board, Metal Band

Sorry fascists, you can’t go on with your lives when you try to undermine everyone else’s.

Despite wearing masks to hide their identity during their various public outings, members of the neo-fascist Patriot Front still manage to be doxed and exposed. Whether it is being arrested when disrupting a Pridefest in Idaho, being found liable in a civil judgement for assaulting a Black man in Boston, or researchers and reporters investigating the organization, Patriot Front has not been able to avoid those seeking to shine light on them to expose what kind of people they are.. When the exposure happens, they often suffer real world consequences.

Recently, two Patriot Front members have been in the spotlight because their personal activities have given their communities cause for concern.  

On Jan. 21, Joshua James Berkau, 28, stepped down from the Green Advisory Board of Irving, Texas after the Texas Observer identified him and other Patriot Front members in an article about the organization. Their article  cited a 2024 police report that noted Berkau rented a vehicle used to transport Patriot Front members who were holding a march in Charleston, West Virginia to counter the “Race to End Racism” organized by the YWCA..

Seven months later, he attended the American Renaissance conference in Tennessee, where he was photographed next to Patriot Front founder Thomas Rousseau and other group members. Patriot Front is known to have provided security for the conference in recent years. 

The Texas Observer also identified Berkau in a staff photo of Veteran Brothers Roofing & Restoration, a Dallas-Fort Worth, TX company that appears to employ several other Patriot Front members.

“Recently, a left-wing, antifa journalist began harassing myself and my friends because of disaster relief work we undertook in Kerr County this year after the flood that occurred,” Berkau said in his resignation letter, blaming the unnamed journalist for prompting him to take  the steps he did, stating he resigned “to avoid causing division on the board”.

This was not the first time Berkau saw public scrutiny. Two years ago The Huffington Post identified him as a donor to the campaign of Judson Blevins, a city commissioner in Enid, Oklahoma who was also a leader in the white nationalist organization now-defunct Identity Evropa and participated in the deadly “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Berkau donated $1,944 to the campaign. A recall election later removed Blevins from Town Council.

Two days after Berkau resigned from his position advising Irving’s City Counsel, the Boston-based antifascist site By Way of Plymouth (BWOP) posted a dox of Christopher Peter Rosati, 31, of Whitinsville MA who they identified as a member of various racist groups such as Patriot Front, New England Active Club, and a supporter and possible member of the Goyim Defense League, BWOP notes that Rosati had “likely been a member of Patriot Front since roughly June 2024 if not earlier” and using photographs were able to determine that a Patriot Front  event was held at his home last year.

BWOP uncovered  that his last job was as a regional sales rep for Tokio Marine HCC, a corporate stoploss insurance company. Metal fans quickly began to sound the alarm because since 2018, Rosati was guitarist of the band Death Ray Vision, which includes veterans from other bands such as Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage.

Rosati has not spoken publicly about the issue and it is unknown what his current status is with the band, but lead singer Keith Bennett and the band released statements that they were not aware of his involvement in neo-fascist groups. “First of all, fuck the Patriot Front. Fuck fascism, fuck Nazis, fuck racism, fuck the Patriot Front,” Bennett said in a video posted on band’s Instagram account. “We had no idea about any of this. We did not cosign, we did not condone, we did not enable, and we weren’t hiding anything within our ranks because we didn’t fucking know. It sucks. It came out of fucking nowhere.”

Bennett also addressed his own history with the Nationalist Social Black Metal (NSBM) band NortherN, formerly known as Cold Northern Vengeance, one of the bands that played a controversial metal show in Clifton, NJ in 2018, although Bennett had already left the band then. “I had a past that was part of that world, and I left that far fucking behind. I can speak with confidence saying that that is not who I am today. It’s not who I’ve been for a long fucking time, and I still regret that bullshit.”

Death Ray Vision as a band cosigned what was said by Bennett in their own statement in the comments of his video: “For anyone who is still uncertain about how we feel: ‘DRV does not support Fascism, Racism, or ANY Nazi ideology. These abhorrent views do not have anything to do with who we are and what we believe in. ‘Fuck The Patriot Front’”

The last time Patriot Front was seen was when they participated in the annual anti-choice March for Life in Washington, DC on Jan. 23. It was marked by one of their members getting detained on the Metro after they allegedly jumped the turnstile. As most of the group’s members were masked, it is not known if Berkau and Rosati participated in their march.
