Antifascist Unity Coalition Solidarity Statement with Wet’suwet’en

One People’s Project is a founding member of the newly-formed Antifascist Unity Coalition.

The Antifascist Unity Coalition is a loose network of anti-fascist, anti-racist, and anti-capitalist groups and individuals across the so-called United States.
We stand with the Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders as they face white supremacist violence in its many forms and with Indegnious resistance to colonization around the world.

Your fight has always been our fight since before our fight started. Before ‘antifa’ was a movement. Before the industrial revolution, before WWII, before White supremacists started calling themselves fascists and before the scientific community even knew what the realities of climate change would look like today, resistance to colonization has been alive and has been teaching us the things we need to know.

It’s white supremacy and colonialism that have wrecked havoc on indegnious people, cultures, and the natural world, and it is white supremacy and colonialism that threaten the survival of humanity right now. Gone are the days when white privilege allowed those who benifit from it to become complacent or complicit for their own survival, and ignore what Indegnious Leaders have been teaching us about living as part of the ecosystem. Too long we have not listened and too much death and destruction have been the result. Indegnious communities know how to save us from climate change. White supremacy and colonialism are what caused it. For anyone who believes themselves anti-fascist, anti-racist, or for that matter wants to see humanity survive another generation, joining the fight for Indegnious sovereignty is our only hope.

Antifascists see our mission as to disrupt and destroy fascist organizing by any means necessary. The only way to fully realize this mission is to realize that white nationalism is an ideology based on the subjugation of people deemed not white, and that white identity exists as a tool of ongoing colonization as a means of othering colonized peoples.

To recgonize that what the fascists have been trying to do all along, is to build a white ethnostate on stolen land, and that the antifascist movement exists to stop them from doing that. They can’t be stopped practically or ethically without that land being rightfully returned to the people it was stolen from in the first place.

We stand with Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders when facing intimidation from far-right vigilante terrorists, and, more than that we stand with you facing violence from a terrorist colonial state and in your centuries long fight against colonial violence, terrorism, and genocide. The only sustainable world is one that recognizes Indegnious Sovereignty and the only anti-fascist world is one that recognizes Indegnious Sovereignty.
