A Poem For Sean

We lost a soldier in Portland one year ago today. We remember him by reposting what we published last year.

Early Saturday morning, a 23-year-old antifascist named Sean Kealiher was murdered in Portland. While we are refraining from reporting on details out of respect for the family, except to say, according to a tweet from Rose City Antifa that the fascists that had been infesting the city are not responsible, we still think that tributes to someone that many there held dear should be made. Saturday night in Montreal, an antifa music festival called Revolution Fest displayed his picture and a moment of silence was done in their honor. The hashtag #LightTheSkyForSean is also being passed around on Twitter and other places. The poem below is from a friend. One People’s Project extends our most heartfelt condolences to friends and family and know that we will continue on the fight he has waged in his short life.

I am not going to see you again.

I am not going to see you smile or hear your voice.

I will not roll my eyes at some of your comments.

I will not have you on my shoulder again.

Every time you were there I knew we would be ok and get out.

You will not pop out of a crowd giving me strength and courage .

Cause if you could do it with a smile on your face- I could do it with a grimace on mine.

Now you’re gone, I went to the gathering we had for you.

I hugged people and I cried and laughed.

I heard stories that made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt and I would look up.

And look around and expect to see you come strolling around the corner.

You didn’t come and I remembered you were murdered.

I stood at the spot that you left at.

I saw your blood in the street.

It was stained in the streets and I could see your movements.

And the immenseness of your leaving hit me.

The World became colder, more awful.

Always a smile on your face.

Always a bounce in your step, always a joy for you to fight the good fight, always on honor for you to stand with your tribe.

It will be honor to fight in your memory, fighting for the things I know you wanted to see in the World.

You will still encourage me, you will still help make me stronger, I will still continue to be grateful to you.

Thank you for your all too brief time in my life.

Safe journey.
