When the faculty advisor bolted from advising the group that invited Taylor, that got the ball rolling to shutting all of this down!<\/strong>

TUSCALOOSA, AL –\u00a0Students for America First, a student organization at the University of Alabama sparked controversy when it invited American Renaissance editor Jared Taylor<\/a> to speak on campus on April 19, but it was announced Monday that Taylor has been disinvited because the organization’s\u00a0registered status as a\u00a0campus organization has been withdrawn.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudents for America First does not currently meet the registered student organization requirements,” a campus-wide email read. “Consistent with UA policy, the group\u2019s registered status has been withdrawn, and its proposed event this week will not go forward. Prior to having its registered status withdrawn and becoming inactive, the group had an opportunity to comply with the requirements of a registered UA student organization, but was unable to do so.”<\/p>\n

The statement further noted that to be recognized as a student organization, a group “requires, among other things, having a full-time UA faculty or staff advisor.\u201d In a March 30 tweet, Students for America First announced that Dr. Bruce Barrett, an anti-gay activist who in the nineties founded an organization called\u00a0Statisticians Opposed to Homosexual Activism (SOHA)<\/a>, stepped down as their advisor.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bruce Barrett has stepped down from his role as Faculty Advisor of the University of Alabama’s Students for America First. He was not fully informed of Jared Taylor’s polarizing statements on race and identity. Students for America First wishes Dr. Barrett all the best.<\/p>\n
