We will have more in the next few days about this thing. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/truthout.org\/articles\/islamophobe-jake-lang-plans-christian-crusade-assault-on-dearborn-michigan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Truthout<\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michigan state politicians are being criticized for their silence ahead of a planned \u201cChristian Crusader\u201d demonstration in Muslim-majority Dearborn on Tuesday organized by white nationalist and anti-Muslim activist Jake Lang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lang and fellow Islamophobic&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/lorenzosewell\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawTxSpxwZG9mBWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMWRxZWswaVZLcmk4cDZ6RE9zcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeEvWWGoOiTn3LetLZf_sWBp8nesz4sGmZPkR0ON9ecLS6jO0rNOgkplS0sDQ_aem_UEZPQMRWVGlxzKTgQ4Eyew\">activist and Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell<\/a>&nbsp;have planned an assault on Dearborn City Hall during a city council meeting on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his post on Facebook with a seemingly AI-generated poster advertising the demonstration, Lang encourages followers to join,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/r\/1AnEC5WV76\/\">saying \u201cCRUSADE OR BE REPLACED,\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;seemingly referring to the white nationalist \u201cgreat replacement\u201d conspiracy theory. Sewell said that Lang is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/news\/religion\/2026\/08\/17\/dearborn-anti-muslim-protest-rally\/91337637007\/\">also planning<\/a>&nbsp;a pig roast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Community leaders, including&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox2detroit.com\/news\/dearborn-officials-christian-leaders-stand-unity-anti-muslim-agitators-plan-visit\">Christian figures<\/a>, have called for unity ahead of the march \u2014 which is just the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.metrotimes.com\/news\/how-racist-provocateur-jake-lang-tried-to-manufacture-chaos-in-dearborn\/\">latest of Lang\u2019s<\/a>&nbsp;visits to Dearborn to harass Muslim residents and provoke them into responding for his audience of hundreds of thousands online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dearborn has the highest proportion of Muslim residents of any U.S. municipality, and has become a frequent target of Islamophobic attacks from politicians and provocateurs like Lang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lang, who Donald Trump pardoned last year for his participation in the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, has gained a following by traveling to different cities to attack Islam and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/09\/nyregion\/jake-lang-protest-manhattan-minnesota.html\">aggravate Muslims across the U.S.<\/a>, committing such hateful acts as burning Qurans and using pork to harass Muslim residents. Critics&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.metrotimes.com\/news\/how-racist-provocateur-jake-lang-tried-to-manufacture-chaos-in-dearborn\/\">have noted<\/a>&nbsp;that he uses abusive tactics to incite violence against him, and then claims victimhood,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/news\/local\/michigan\/wayne\/2026\/08\/13\/jake-lang-dearborn\/91291657007\/\">often prompting the arrest<\/a>&nbsp;of the people he agitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dearborn\u2019s police chief&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/detroit\/news\/dearborn-outside-groups-potentially-coming-to-city\/\">has said<\/a>&nbsp;that the department is increasing the police presence in Dearborn in anticipation of the march.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leaders like Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, who is Muslim, and local&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cair.com\/press_releases\/community-advisory-cair-mi-urges-community-to-avoid-anti-islam-agitators-coming-to-dearborn\/\">Muslim groups<\/a>&nbsp;have encouraged residents to stay home and avoid a confrontation with Lang and refuse to feed his content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDearborn welcomes everybody, and to so many, that is a challenge to the perspective of America that they believe in \u2014 that you cannot be multi-ethnic, multi-faith, multi-generational, that you cannot speak multiple languages and still be as American as any other city,\u201d Hammoud&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/news\/religion\/2026\/08\/17\/dearborn-anti-muslim-protest-rally\/91337637007\/\">said<\/a>&nbsp;on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, for months, statewide leaders like Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have been relatively mum about Lang\u2019s attacks \u2014 even though one Iraqi man has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/story\/news\/local\/wayne-county\/2026\/08\/14\/trouble-expected-dearborn-visit-jake-lang-police-dont-engage\/91276788007\/\">been detained by ICE<\/a>&nbsp;after he allegedly attacked Lang when Lang attacked a Muslim gathering in Dearborn last August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan), who represents Dearborn, has condemned Michigan leaders for not speaking up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIslamophobia is a problem among both Democrats and Republicans,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RashidaTlaib\/status\/2089498658181988483\">Tlaib said<\/a>&nbsp;on social media on Monday. \u201cThe silence in Michigan among state leaders while one of the largest cities in the state is being terrorized by Islamophobes is shameful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Tlaib\u2019s condemnation, on Tuesday, Whitmer released&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wghn.com\/2026\/08\/18\/10557837\/\">a short<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/wghn.com\/2026\/08\/18\/10557837\/\">statement<\/a>&nbsp;echoing the calls for residents not to engage with Lang. It does not mention Muslim residents specifically, despite Lang\u2019s clear targeted attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDearborn is home to one of the most vibrant communities in America. Its residents are our friends and our neighbors,\u201d Whitmer said. \u201cToday, a group of agitators is traveling to Dearborn for the sole purpose of intimidating that community and provoking a reaction.
