A review of Jake Lang’s “Stop The Islamic Takeover of NYC” rally<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

On March 7th white nationalist Jake Lang held a rally at the NYC Mayor\u2019s residence Gracie Mansion to spew Islamophobic talking points as a publicity stunt. This demo is just one in a long line of attention grabbing actions planned to further his career as a warrior in the culture wars. These public events are monetized through social media posts, Patreon accounts and direct donations. Lang has been arrested twice recently as a result of these actions. Often he is outnumbered with his followers attacking counter demonstrators (anti-racists or \u201cantifa\u201d) then running to police for protection. In this case the anti-racist counter-protest dwarfed Lang\u2019s numbers six-fold with 125 participants. These apparent defeats serve an important purpose for grifters like Lang, it allows them to play the victim even while enjoying widespread support reaching all the way to the highest offices in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who haven\u2019t been following these news stories about Jake Lang<\/a> allow us to set the stage. His parents own one of the largest waste removal services in NY. He appears to have gotten his independent living by starting an \u201cUrban Headwear\u201d company, followed by online store vape peddling. In 2021, Lang traveled to DC to attend the Stop the Steal <\/em>rally organized by a wide range of right wing figures, from local republicans to hate groups such as the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers and various nazi gangs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The January 6th 2021 (J6) rally quickly became something much more sinister as the participants attempted to disrupt Congress from certifying the election results in which Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden. These failed insurrectionists attacked Capitol Police with a large variety of weapons, resulting in deaths, injuries and massive property destruction. In the wake of this, the federal government launched the largest ever online tip program resulting in a massive number of individuals from the participants\u2019 personal lives coming forward to identify them. Antifascist researchers waded into the process identifying hate groups and known members who participated in J6. Prosecutors charged approximately 1,583 individuals on charges from disorderly conduct to treason. The government secured plea deals and convictions of almost all of these people. However, just days after Trump returned to office in January 2025, he quickly issued pardons<\/a> to, or commuted the sentences of, every single individual involved with the J6 failed insurrection, Lang being one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emboldened with his Trump pardon, Lang has diligently worked to champion the Trump administration\u2019s racist agenda through rallies and online publications or social media accounts giving the appearance of a \u201cgrassroots\u201d movement. In a video at the Minnesota capital building, Lang can be seen swearing loyalty to President Trump before defacing an ice sculpture paid for by state Democrats. He was arrested and has pending charges from this incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of Lang\u2019s most common targets is the religion of Islam. He uses his Islamophobic rhetoric to demonize immigrants and to push a repressive form of christian nationalism. He claims to have in-depth knowledge of muslim countries due to being a veteran of the U.S. military. By appealing to the idea \u201cthat our way of life is being threatened\u201d Lang is participating in a long tradition of white American reactionary backlash. It is true our way of life is being threatened- wages are comparably lower than in the 1970s while housing, groceries, gas, healthcare, education, retirement, are all dramatically more expensive, whilst corporations and billionaires are rapidly increasing their personal wealth. This has nothing to do with the targets of Lang\u2019s hate- and everything to do with the way the U.S. is structured to prioritize the few over the many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teenage Bombers & Government Entrapment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The giant political hellscape that we find ourselves living in has been building for decades. Ever since the social upheaval of the 1950\u2019s and 1960\u2019s forced the end of segregation, \u201cgave a woman\u201d the right to vote and freedom of choice, there have been those working against equal rights. This has been done in a truly holistic bipartisan way. Through the Clinton era mass incarceration <\/a>to the war on terror we have seen every president contribute to the erosion of rights and the increase in wealth disparity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At last Saturday\u2019s anti-islam rally organized by Lang, two teenagers from Eastern PA ignited two devices. Initially it was stated that these were smoke bombs, but upon police investigation it was determined that the devices contained a homemade explosive and various items added with the intent to create a large amount of shrapnel, thus killing and injuring a large number of people. There were no injuries and within 24 hours the NYPD announced they were investigating this failed attack as an \u201cISIS inspired\u201d event. The FBI has joined the investigation. Various details of the interrogation have been \u201cleaked\u201d to reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2026, any U.S. law enforcement claims of \u201cties to ISIS\u201d or \u201cISIS inspired\u201d attacks should be met with extreme skepticism. From CoIntelPro<\/a> to GWOT entrapment <\/a>, it has been a staple tactic of the government\u2019s efforts to discredit, divide and imprison any opposition to their agendas both foreign and domestic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Nov 3rd in 1979 the KKK and American Nazi Party attacked an antifascist demonstration in Greensboro North Carolina<\/a> killing 5 and injuring 11. Later it was determined that law enforcement informants had infiltrated both racist groups and participated in the murders themselves. This marked a shift from using FBI officers to using paid informants<\/a>, allowing the federal agencies more deniability as well as pressuring individuals to become agents of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a post 9-11 world we have seen a dramatic rise in federal involvement around terrorism and domestic terrorism cases. The vast majority of those arrested for \u201cIslamic terrorism\u201d cases involve one or more persons acting as informants or federal agents. Oftentimes establishing multi layered operations to radicalize then entrap people who are disaffected by our government\u2019s policies. The online honeypots and fake accounts set up to look like foreign terrorist organizations have a very far reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday March 9th, two days after Lang\u2019s rally, the DOJ released a statement<\/a> outlining the charges against teenagers Kayumi and Balat. It includes many of the textbook \u201cpro ISIS\u201d narratives. Including alleging one of the teens wrote a pledge to ISIS on brown paper in the interrogation room. If we look at the knowledge we have about how the U.S. police state treats detainees we should all be deeply disturbed. If in fact there are domestic terrorist organizations attempting to launch attacks on U.S. soil should we not be more concerned with who was directing these two youths? Who taught them to make the bombs? Were the bombs actually made to detonate? These questions would address a real security concern. Instead we are met with more fear mongering racist rhetoric from the administration parroted by mainstream media and boosted online by actual neo-nazis, christian nationalists, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The real story here is that once again Jake Lang continues to push his white supremacist and christian nationalist agenda while receiving disproportionate coverage and police protection. A number of right wing influencers participated in the rally including Frank Scales<\/a>, Ian McGinnis and Patrick LaBrie traveled from out of state to attend. At one point, McGinnis was arrested after he pepper sprayed counter-protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the outside it appears that Lang & Co.\u2019s publicity stunts have not only sought to grow their racist movements\u2013 but to influence government policies. From President Trump\u2019s latching onto lies about Haitians in Ohio, to similar lies about Somalis in Minnesota<\/a> that sparked a massive federal investigation and DHS invasion, these racist influencers are acting as propaganda machines. Our government then points to this propaganda as a way to justify their repressive policies of detention, deportation and wrongful imprisonment. Billions of dollars are being spent on supercharging extra judicial law enforcement and waging wars outside of the congressional checks and balances. While the groundwork for these horrific acts was started decades ago, we are now faced with a de facto federal militia and military directed at the whim of an elderly billionaire (millionaire pre-election) who is easily influenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we learn more about the events of the Gracie Mansion protest and counter-protest, we should remain skeptical of any law enforcement agencies but now more than ever we need to view their actions as a part of a larger campaign of disinformation and repression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lazy Reporting Fuels The Fire<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

There are two last disturbing trends we want to address. The first being that news sources often quickly publish pieces blaming horrible actions on ideologies. In the wake of this incident social media claims and hot takes blamed the attempted bombing on \u201cleft wing\u201d ISIS inspired actions. ISIS (AKA DAESH<\/a>) is an extremely conservative neo-fascist movement with a brutal history of murder, slavery, racism, systemic rape and pedophilia. In no way is this in line with leftist principles or beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, often liberal, and even some leftist media, is quick to repeat the narrative that this is an ISIS inspired attack. This is lazy or cocky reporting at best. It is public knowledge there are systemic failings inside of law enforcement. The NYPD, like most law enforcement departments in the U.S., uses coercive interrogation techniques and they are the ones to almost immediately provide the evidence that the would-be bombers were inspired by ISIS. The FBI, like all departments under the Trump regime, have been releasing wildly inaccurate claims about significant events, from the wars it is waging to the murderous paramilitary<\/a> group ICE. In fact, it is reported the U.S. judicial system boasts a 92% success rate<\/a> in prosecutions with only 2% of all those charged by the state ever going to trial. When we look at the sheer number of death penalty cases that have been overturned<\/a> we can catch a glimpse into the rampant misprosecution and corruption that goes into a deeply flawed criminal justice system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISIS has an incredibly murky past with reported links to various western countries\u2019 security forces. Currently the U.S. government is backing the new leader of Syria who was a founding member of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham<\/a>, which is an al-Qaeda affiliate, and fierce opponent of the fragmented remnants of a once powerful ISIS. Statistically, it is more likely that these two teenagers were radicalized online and ended up caught in a federal entrapment scheme than to have been organically inspired by ISIS. Considering this, coupled with how well an ISIS attack plays into the hands of the current balls nuts Trump administration and its fascist klingons, we cannot see a reason to report their claims without some deep questioning. To do so is to be complicit in the propaganda arm of the Trump Regime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
