On May Day, the neo-Fash made it a big deal around the country to confront leftists celebrating the day, and either they were just annoying or, as in the case of L.A. spinning their wheels.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n(<\/b>ANTIMEDIA<\/a>\u00a0Op-Ed<\/b>) <\/b>Los Angeles, CA\u00a0<\/b><\/em>\u2014 Alt-right Trump supporters showed up to a protest on Monday wearing helmets, ready to rumble in Los Angeles, a city with very little Antifa presence.<\/p>\n

\u00a0A Donald Trump-focused Youtube channel falsely reported that May Day is a \u201cmassive Antifa protest<\/a>.\u201d May Day is actually international workers day<\/a>, and in Los Angeles, it has been a day to march in support of immigrants\u2019 rights. The past three May Days have gone smoothly and were fairly benign events. This year, however, some Trump supporters made a Facebook event asking people to come protest. The Trump group met up at a federal building in downtown Los Angeles and then made its way to LAPD headquarters, which is located directly across the street from where three of the May Day gatherings were planned.<\/div>\n

More than 100 groups<\/a> marched in multiple May Day events in Los Angeles. Tens of thousands<\/a> flowed into downtown in support of immigration, workers\u2019 rights, other social causes, and, in general, to express opposition to Trump.<\/p>\n

In recent months, Trump supporters<\/a> have been showing up to random<\/a> politically left activist events and protests. Up until now, the Trump groups in Los Angeles have been relatively small, with about six to ten<\/a> people attending such counter-protests<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a social climate where there have been numerous clashes between alt-right and other politically right-leaning and Antifa groups, the whole idea of Trump supporters crashing Mayday was, in itself, provocative. Just days before May Day, there were protests at Berkeley<\/a>, where Ann Coulter\u2019s speech had been canceled. In an interview, a person who calls himself Baked Alaska<\/a> told a well know live stream journalist, Tim Pool<\/a> that he had come on a bus with people to Berkeley to see the speech. Some of the right-wing protesters who went to Berkeley that day were wearing helmets and goggles<\/a> in anticipation of clashes with Antifa. Some of the same people who were in Berkeley came to Los Angeles on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey [people in the Trump group] are using the signs as shields<\/i>,\u201d Pool said.<\/p>\n

Trump supporters showed up to LAPD headquarters on Monday wearing helmets. Some of the Trump people clearly spoke of wanting to \u201ckick some Antifa ass.\u201d \u00a0While at the event, I saw one familiar looking man holding a stick. I recognized him from a video of violence between Antifa and Trump supporters in Berkeley. He was in the now infamous video<\/a> of the man who punched a woman. The man I saw in L.A. holding a stick is the older, thin, black man in the video below between the :22 seconds and :26 seconds mark.<\/p>\n
