By now you know that A&E dumped the show amid all the controversy surrounding it. There will be more developments in the next few weeks that we will be able to share.<\/strong><\/p>\n

UPDATE: Due to concerns about the original title, the name of the show has been changed to Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America. This article has been changed to reflect that.<\/em><\/p>\n

A new television show featuring One People\u2019s Project Executive Director Daryle Lamont Jenkins is slated to debut on Jan. 10 on A&E. Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America<\/em> is about three activists, two who themselves were in hate groups at one time, working to help some involved with factions of the Ku Klux Klan to get out and away from that world.<\/p>\n

In addition to Jenkins, Escaping the KKK<\/em> also features speaker, author and peace educator Arno Michaelis, former neo-Nazi who joined the white power scene at the age of 16 and was the lead singer of the band Centurion, and Bryon Widner, a reformed Neo-Nazi and subject of the documentary E<\/em>rasing Hate<\/em>, who spent sixteen years as a member of the Outlaw Hammerskins and Vinlander Social Club until he realized the environment wasn\u2019t best for his son. The three get involved in the lives of four families in different states involved with the Klan and work to encourage them to leave the Klan life behind.<\/p>\n

Although there has been some criticism that the show would \u201cnormalize\u201d the Ku Klux Klan and give them a respectable platform to air their views, the show is focused on beating back the kind of element the Klan brings to society and is primarily focused on the efforts of those opposing them.<\/p>\n
