Announcing an anarchist bookfair in Lawrence, Kansas on December 2nd.
A general theme of storytelling is encouraged. We’re interested in the stories that anarchists tell each other. Whether in the form of fiction, memories, or stories about stories and what they mean, we encourage others to consider this as a topic. Perhaps attendees could bring copies of a story they’ve written; or give a thoughtful presentation on the topic; or just bring the same heavy bag of memories to the bookfair that they carry everywhere else, willing to share what is appropriate rather than fearfully keeping the bag entirely closed.
In a world of pervasive amnesia, in a world where the stories we love go largely unheard, to remember is perhaps a paramount anarchist practice. Telling a story means keeping something alive. Sharing stories is as fundamental as sharing food.
If you’d like to table, present, or perform, please contact us at the email provided below. Schedules and details are still being worked out, more information will be announced as it concretizes. We plan on providing some quality food, including delicious vegan baked goods for all. An emphasis may be placed on performances, especially the inexplicable kind (neo-dadaists email us!).
