Christopher Hayden: Burlington, VT’s Perennial White Supremacist pest

Christopher Hayden: Fair Use from Seven Days VT

This is one of those guys who simply has issues. Doesn’t mean he should be passing them on to the rest of us though.

Christopher Hayden has been hauled into Chittenden Superior Court again for charges ranging from disturbing the Peace by phone, Criminal Threatening to Aggravated Disorderly Conduct – Fighting – Hate Crime with a sheaf of charges for violating terms of release.

Over the years Hayden has made a name for himself by harassing everyone from POC, Jewish people and liberal politicians to Black people on the street. His most prolific charges are related to racist, bigoted threats, but he also has been arrested and prosecuted for Assault with a deadly weapon and
disorderly conduct.

According to an article in Seven Days, a man, ironically named John Brown, befriended Hayden on the streets of Burlington in the 90’s. Brown sports a swastika tattoo on his leg and was once associated with Aryan Nations. Like Hayden, Brown landed himself in prison for aggravated assault. The man claims
to be a long lost cousin of Hayden. Whether they have a familial relation or not is unknown but they appear to be soulmates in hate.

Christopher Hayden has faced consequences including arrest, prosecution, jail and commitment to mental institutions and drug rehabs. None of these things have dissuaded him from a determined effort to spread bigotry and hate. According to the records department at the Chittenden Criminal Division Hayden has roughly 40 criminal cases going back to 1994 and 11 active cases as of March
2023.
