Welp…Randy Weaver is dead

Randy and Vicki Weaver

Sure the feds screwed Ruby Ridge up, but Weaver was still a racist POS. At least he knew well enough to TRY to get away from the rest of us!

Randy Weaver, the White Supremacist who became a cause célèbre for other White Supremacists and neo-Nazis when he and his family were involved in the Ruby Ridge Standoff thirty years ago this August, has died at the age of 74.

According to a Facebook post by his daughter, Sara, Weaver passed away Wednesday. Sara currently lives Kalispell, Montana, where a number of White Supremacists once moved to in an effort to create what they called at the time a “PLE” – Pioneer Little Europe. Randy have moved there soon after she did in the nineties.

Originally from Iowa, Vicki and Randy Weaver, both adherents to the White Supremacist Christian Identity religion, moved to Ruby Ridge, Idaho fearing that the apocalypse was soon to come and to follow Vicki’s vision of her family surviving the it away from “corrupt civilization”.

On August 21, 1992, U.S. Marshals Service attempted to arrest Weaver under a bench warrant after his failure to appear on firearms charges. Weaver refused to surrender, and members of his immediate family, and family friend Kevin Harris, resisted as well. This eventually led to a shootout on the Weaver property with six Marshals, Harris and Weaver’s 14-year-old son, Sammy. As a result, Deputy U.S. Marshal William Francis Degan, Sammy Weaver, and the Weavers’ dog, Striker, were all killed. The following day the subsequent siege of the Weaver residence, led by the FBI, Weaver’s wife Vicki was killed by FBI sniper fire. All casualties occurred in the first two days of the operation. As White Supremacist supporters and other far right figures made it out to Ruby Ridge to stand vigil in support of the Weaver Family, the siege and standoff went on for another two weeks before it was ultimately resolved by civilian negotiators. Harris surrendered and was arrested on August 30, while Weaver and his three daughters surrendered the next day.

Weaver was ultimately acquitted in July of all charges except missing his original court date and violating his bail conditions, for which he served 18 months and fined $10,000. Harris was charged with killing Deputy Degan, but was acquitted. The Weavers won a $3.1 million settlement against the government.

On April 19, 1995, a massive truck bomb in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, killing 168 people, including numerous children, and injuring 680 others. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were arrested, charged and convicted of the crime and claimed that it was revenge for the federal government’s poor handling of Ruby Ridge and the Waco siege three years later was their motivation for the Oklahoma City bombing. Nichols is currently serving life without parole in a federal prison while McVeigh was executed in June 11, 2001, exactly three months before the September 11, attacks.

No cause of death for Weaver has not been released at the time of this posting.
