Twitter Threat Leads to Regular Caller to Chris Cantwell’s Podcast, aka This Guy

Oh, the boneheads sure do love flexing those e-muscles and making threats, don’t they? Well, we like letting you know who they might be!

The account @johngonzo88 has been open for just under a year, and it only has eleven followers and 165 tweets. The tweets are the usual promotion of neo-Fascist propaganda and opinions as well as the typical insults flung at various people by those within neo-Fascist circles. โ€œHardmousโ€, a regular caller to Chris Cantwell’s podcast Radical Agenda, called in and said that he owned this particular account although he didnโ€™t use it regularly. โ€œIโ€™m barely on Twitter, and I have one, like really shitty Twitter account that I barely even use, and I just use itโ€ฆI basically use it to piss off (paleoconservative commentator) Vox Day,โ€ he told Cantwell, who is currently facing assault charges stemming from his activities during the โ€œUnite the Rightโ€ rally in Charlottesville, VA last summer and has been dubbed โ€œThe Crying Naziโ€ because of a video he made prior to his arrest where he seemed to be crying over the development.

The threat

But in recent days, that account has been the originator of a threat towards another Twitter user, an antifascist activist based in Charlottesville, reportedly even getting @johngonzo88 suspended for a few days.

In the podcast, โ€œHardmousโ€ particularly singled out @socialistdogmom, who has been monitoring and reporting on the trials of the various neo-Fascists and supporters that have stemmed from the Charlottesville rally. Calling her a โ€œcrypto Jewโ€ and other vulgar names, he also makes a thinly-veiled threat. โ€œNot that I would do such things, but I would love to just fuckinโ€™โ€ฆyou ever see the movie Hellraiser, yโ€™ know, when they dig all the hooks in the guy and just like rip him apart? Iโ€™ll let your imagination go from there,โ€ he said before Cantwell cut him off. During that call however, โ€œHardmousโ€ also singled out for comment @socialistdogmomโ€™s dogs, which were also the subject of another threat that she received last week via Twitter courtesy of the @johngonzo88 account. That threat was a series of photo showing her and her dogs either decapitated or skinned.

DJ Hardmous, who on the John Gonzo Twitter account says he is the โ€œ#1 Psykosonik fanโ€, runs a number of trance music accounts on various websites, including a Periscope account also with the name @johngonzo88 which features the same avatar as the Twitter account. While it has few videos, one features the music that DJ Hardmous plays. His page on anonradio.net reveals even more. As the DJ podcast site requires payment, real names of the DJs that use the site are revealed, and the account of DJ Hardmous identifies its owner as Thomas Gipson. The Periscope videos also includes not only his face, but a quick shot of the navigation system of the vehicle he was driving, showing that he was in the Saint Charles, Missouri area. There is a Thomas Philip Gipson listed in public records in Saint Charles and in nearby Chesterfield, MO.

The threatening tweet has since been taken down, and according to an exchange he was having with another Twitter user he might have been trolling, he noted that he was suspended for a few days after someone reported him.

Twitterโ€™s rules and policies, expressly forbid โ€œthreats of violence or wish for the serious physical harm, death, or disease of an individual or group of people.โ€ Noting the potential for offline harm, Twitter notes that they have a zero tolerance towards such posts and will permanently suspend accounts that violate this policy It remains to be seen if the @johngonzo88 account will be suspended permanently.

25 Years of Hate Having Consequences !

2025 is a milestone year and we want to give a huge THANK YOU to all of our supporters who have been in the trenches with us for the past 25 years. A lot of groups and people we have dealt with since we started are long gone: Richard Barrett, Matt Hale, the Minutemen and others! But we are still here fighting the good fight, contending with the new generation's version of hate politics. There are trying times ahead, but we believe our reality would be even worse if we did not come together to do this work. If you value the research and reporting that we have done at One Peopleโ€™s Project and Idavox- and you want to see it continue- we hope you will consider helping to keep our mission fired up.
