Nothing Funny About The Proud Boys Founder’s Upcoming Comedy Tour

Gavin with Proud Boys in Berkeley, CA.

By Keystone Anti-Racist Action

America Strikes Back comedy tour was recently announced on the social media platform Twitter. It features Proud Boys (PB) founder and front-man Gavin McInnes. The tour consists of four dates spread over three months and across thousands of miles. Joining him is Anthony Cumia, the shock jock who first caught public attention for his racist remarks in 2014 when he was fired from the Opie & Anthony Show on Sirius XM, and Josh Denny. Denny, ex-Food Network host, thinks women who do not know they are pregnant by 6 weeks are “whores”, and advocates for abortion bans when he is not busy trying to get laid.

McInnes has personally led violent mobs of PB to attack leftist, anti fascists and others he perceives as enemies. On a podcast in 2018 he notoriously stated “I cannot recommend violence enough. It is a really effective way to solve problems” when asked about violence at PB affiliated rallies. The PB have operated as a political street gang inflicting violence that results in the injury or death of bystanders and counter protesters at rallies or events they attend. They collaborate with neo nazis in many of these instances, including the 211 Boot Boys and Golden State [nazi] Skinheads.

PB pose with members of 211 Boot Boys after assaulting antifascists in NYC. Note Joe Bola, center, wearing a shirt from his 211 affiliated record label “United Riot Records.” And yes, non-white folks holding up the white power hand signal is mind boggling, we know.

The PB continue to be one of the leading hate groups in the United States. They have recently been energized by President Trump pardoning, or commuting the sentences of, the January 6th rioters. These include dozens of PB’s, several of which are top leaders.

McInnes has been seeking to appeal to a wider audience by hosting podcasts and doing comedy shows. His personal podcast can be found on Spotify. These podcasts and shows allow him to make a living while pushing his white supremacist, misogynist and violent ideology. Tours such as these seek to recruit so-called “patriots”, men and edgy comedy fans into normalizing these garbage ideologies.

Make no mistake about it, wherever McInnes goes- active Proud Boys, organized racist gang members, reactionaries and misogynists will turn out in force to support him. Each one of these cities hosting- LA, Boca Raton, Pittsburgh, Detroit- will be placed in danger by these events. In the past, Gavin & Co have kept the location of their events secret.

25 Years of Hate Having Consequences !

2025 is a milestone year and we want to give a huge THANK YOU to all of our supporters who have been in the trenches with us for the past 25 years. A lot of groups and people we have dealt with since we started are long gone: Richard Barrett, Matt Hale, the Minutemen and others! But we are still here fighting the good fight, contending with the new generation's version of hate politics. There are trying times ahead, but we believe our reality would be even worse if we did not come together to do this work. If you value the research and reporting that we have done at One People’s Project and Idavox- and you want to see it continue- we hope you will consider helping to keep our mission fired up.
