If the Mexican neo-Nazi didn’t get pinched over assaulting a woman who was approaching his door, Berwin, IL Police would have had a lot of explaining to do!
It wasn’t neo-Nazi Nicholas Fuentes’ choice for his body to be in the custody of Berwyn Police last month but after allegedly assaulting a woman who came to his home a few weeks prior, it was only a matter of time before such choices were denied him.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Fuentes was arrested on Nov. 27 and charged with battery after he, according to authorities, assaulted Marla Rose who lives in the same town as him, court records showing that he was accused of having “knowingly made physical contact of an insulting nature.” He was fingerprinted at the Berwyn Police Department and released the same day. His first court appearance will be at the Maywood, Illinois courthouse on Dec. 19.
The charges stem from a Nov. 10 incident that came days after Fuentes went on his America First podcast and on Twitter to gloat about the election results that swept Republicans into power in both chambers of Congress and the White House. He received a lot of attention on Election Day when he boasted, as he did later on his podcast that election results meant that men can control women’s bodies freely by tweeting, “Your body, my choice. Forever.” Not only did this result in responses that warned him this was considered an intolerable threat, his home address at 1826 Home Ave. in Berwyn, Illinois was subsequently made public, and Rose went to the home and was approaching the door when Fuentes confronted her.
“I walked up and as I was pressing—I hadn’t touched the doorbell yet—he flung the door open in that same move, sprayed me with pepper spray or mace or whatever,” Rose told Vice, noting that he put his hands on her shoulders and pushed her down the steps, causing her to fall onto the sidewalk. “And as I fell and landed, my phone flew out of my hand. I could hear the woman who had kind of dared me to ring his doorbell calling the cops. Just like, ‘He just pushed her down three steps, and he’s, like, standing over her.’
By the time the police arrived ten minutes later, Fuentes took Rose’s phone, ran inside his house and locked the door.
Fuentes, 26, a White Supremacist of Mexican descent, has made himself prominent after his attendance at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia as a neo-fascist podcaster who reportedly leads what is called the Groyper Movement, young men who like him are known for harassing people online but seldom are as confrontational outside the security of the internet, except when they attempt to harass fellow conservatives who they feel do not represent the White supremacist positioning of the ideology fully enough. In recent years, Fuentes organized the America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC), which was often held adjacent to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and proclaimed itself a “white nationalist alternative” to the larger event, despite Fuentes himself nor many of his speakers including Black conservative commentator Jon Miller and Filipino former columnist Michelle Malkin, whom Groypers taken to refer to as “Mommy,” not being White. Elected officials like Reps. Paul Gosar and Marjorie Taylor Greene spoke at AFPAC in past events, and Tom Holman, who Donald Trump tapped as his “border czar” for his upcoming administration, almost spoke at the conference in 2022, but left once he was given information about the antisemitic leanings of the event. There has not been an AFPAC conference since 2022.
Fuentes is also known for having dinner with Donald Trump at his Mar-A-Lago resort after rapper Kanye West brought him along. Sources say that Trump “seemed very taken” with Fuentes, although his team have been hesitant to say he supported him.
Over the past week, there have been unsubstantiated rumors of Fuentes, a self-proclaimed “incel,” or involuntary celibate, appearing in a sex tape with libertarian livestreamer Steven Kenneth Bonnell II, who goes by the name “Destiny.” Fuentes denies he is in the video.
