New Jersey’s Local Nazi Outfit Keeps Counterprotesting Anti-ICE Rallies

They couldn’t show up for their own rally in Princeton back in January, but New Jersey European Heritage Association (NJEHA) showed up in Newark yesterday to once again protest the (in their words) “Jewish terrorists” who oppose America’s concentration camps.

NEWARK, NJ – Many of the rallies against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been organized predominately by Jewish groups and individuals along Jewish themes. The one held on Oct. 3 at the ICE field office on Broad Street was no exception, Oct 3 falling during the Ten Days of Awe between Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), a time when Jews are called to deep introspection, prayer and repentance in the hopes of receiving a favorable decree for the new year and being inscribed in the Book of Life.

That has also meant neo-Nazis have been countering them at each rally, particularly the New Jersey European Heritage Association (NJEHA), and the outing on Oct. 3 was no exception.

Approximately 150 persons participated in the rally that called to end ICE detention contracts in New Jersey as well as New Jersey’s collaboration with ICE and driver’s licenses for all, so immigrants can drive without fear. Three representing NJEHA stood nearby two of them wearing American flags as masks and yelling antisemitic insults at the rally participants. One, who is believed to be NJEHA founder Dan D’Ambly holding the “Betsy Ross” version of the United States Flag, which right wingers have been using recently in response to Nike discontinuing the sneaker featuring the flag reportedly after NFL star-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive. Neo-Nazi gadfly Ron Sheehy was also there mixing with the crowd wearing a NJEHA cap and taking pictures, but in a video posted on Twitter the one believed to be D’Ambly called for him to join them after police ushered them away from the rally, who by then was mocking them by chanting “Cowards hide their faces!” That same NJEHA protester said he was wearing the mask to prevent anyone from attacking his home. “It’s because you Communists attack out houses,” he yelled. “You’re terrorists!” There has not been any evidence of anyone from the NJEHA actually having their homes attacked, but D’Ambly did lose his job at a Daily News plant in Jersey City after he was doxxed.

Nazis showed up in Newark today.

Three men, two of them masked, came to the #JewsAgainstICE protest.

No one participating in the anti-ICE rally were wearing masks.

As in this case, D’Ambly and Sheehy, along with a third person were last seen in Philadelphia where they protested an anti-ICE rally on July 4. There, D’Ambly, as did the talkative masked protester in Newark, carried the Betsy Ross flag as well as wear the NJEHA hat. Both, who were also a part of the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville in 2017, have been seen at two other anti-ICE rallies in New Jersey, again making antisemitic insults.

The next anti-ICE rally will also be held in Newark on Oct. 12.
