Twitter Threat Leads to Regular Caller to Chris Cantwell’s Podcast, aka This Guy

Oh, the boneheads sure do love flexing those e-muscles and making threats, don’t they? Well, we like letting you know who they might be!

The account @johngonzo88 has been open for just under a year, and it only has eleven followers and 165 tweets. The tweets are the usual promotion of neo-Fascist propaganda and opinions as well as the typical insults flung at various people by those within neo-Fascist circles. “Hardmous”, a regular caller to Chris Cantwell’s podcast Radical Agenda, called in and said that he owned this particular account although he didn’t use it regularly. “I’m barely on Twitter, and I have one, like really shitty Twitter account that I barely even use, and I just use it…I basically use it to piss off (paleoconservative commentator) Vox Day,” he told Cantwell, who is currently facing assault charges stemming from his activities during the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, VA last summer and has been dubbed “The Crying Nazi” because of a video he made prior to his arrest where he seemed to be crying over the development.

The threat

But in recent days, that account has been the originator of a threat towards another Twitter user, an antifascist activist based in Charlottesville, reportedly even getting @johngonzo88 suspended for a few days.

In the podcast, “Hardmous” particularly singled out @socialistdogmom, who has been monitoring and reporting on the trials of the various neo-Fascists and supporters that have stemmed from the Charlottesville rally. Calling her a “crypto Jew” and other vulgar names, he also makes a thinly-veiled threat. “Not that I would do such things, but I would love to just fuckin’…you ever see the movie Hellraiser, y’ know, when they dig all the hooks in the guy and just like rip him apart? I’ll let your imagination go from there,” he said before Cantwell cut him off. During that call however, “Hardmous” also singled out for comment @socialistdogmom’s dogs, which were also the subject of another threat that she received last week via Twitter courtesy of the @johngonzo88 account. That threat was a series of photo showing her and her dogs either decapitated or skinned.

DJ Hardmous, who on the John Gonzo Twitter account says he is the “#1 Psykosonik fan”, runs a number of trance music accounts on various websites, including a Periscope account also with the name @johngonzo88 which features the same avatar as the Twitter account. While it has few videos, one features the music that DJ Hardmous plays. His page on anonradio.net reveals even more. As the DJ podcast site requires payment, real names of the DJs that use the site are revealed, and the account of DJ Hardmous identifies its owner as Thomas Gipson. The Periscope videos also includes not only his face, but a quick shot of the navigation system of the vehicle he was driving, showing that he was in the Saint Charles, Missouri area. There is a Thomas Philip Gipson listed in public records in Saint Charles and in nearby Chesterfield, MO.

The threatening tweet has since been taken down, and according to an exchange he was having with another Twitter user he might have been trolling, he noted that he was suspended for a few days after someone reported him.

Twitter’s rules and policies, expressly forbid “threats of violence or wish for the serious physical harm, death, or disease of an individual or group of people.” Noting the potential for offline harm, Twitter notes that they have a zero tolerance towards such posts and will permanently suspend accounts that violate this policy It remains to be seen if the @johngonzo88 account will be suspended permanently.
