A commentary.
” I like people who weren’t captured.”
–Draft Dodger-in-Chief Trump
Before I begin this article, I would like to dedicate it to my friend Zak Zimmerman who is on leave and my friends George “Papa Biz” Biswell, Gloria Rodriguez, Mike Becerra and all other soldiers/veterans/retirees of our armed services. With that said, here is this week’s article:
Several times in the past few years, I have heard people say “Thank you for your service” when they found out a person has served or is presently serving in our military. At first, I thought what a wonderful gesture, but life has taught me a person’s words mean nothing but actions are everything. This became crystal clear to me when an openly Gay soldier who asked a question on video, during one of the GOP Presidential debates, was openly booed by the audience. If I remember correctly, not one of the GOP Presidential candidates while on stage, said anything to the audience about their deplorable hateful ass behavior. “Sunshine is the best disinfectant.” It didn’t matter to these deplorable people that this man is risking his life serving his country. The only thing that matter was that he is Gay. That is when I said to myself “Hello Lights!” Your “Thank you for your service” is nothing but ca-ca and fake ass patriotism.
If you all appreciate our service men and women as you claim you do, you would not have elected a draft dodger to be their Commander-in-Chief. What were you thinking? You should have taken cause to pause with your devotion to him, when that trollop said, “I don’t like people who get caught.”, referring to fellow GOP John McCain who was a Vietnam War veteran and POW that was tortured.
McCain and I may not agree on how the country should be run, but I would NEVER put him down for the service/sacrifice he endured that the trick occupying The White House was too cowardly to serve and ran away from.
Not very long ago, I had a Conservative angry at me for calling Trump the Draft Dodger-in-Chief. He felt I should have more respect for the President. I said Barack Obama is my President. He then tried to trick me into a gotcha moment by saying that Muhammad Ali was a draft dodger and I held him in high esteem. Was it because he was Black? I ignored that question. I knew exactly what he was trying to do.
I was so happy and proud First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden’s platform included supporting our military and their families. What is Melania Trump’s platform going to be? She has a lot of time to think about it while she wastes our tax money living at Trump Towers.
