PA Neo-Nazi Wins 2nd Term as Republican Committeeman

The first time the Republicans played like they didn’t know who he was and what he was about. This time, they can’t.

PITTSTON, PA–Steve Smith, a co-founder of the neo-Nazi Keystone State “Skinheads” as well as a former member of Aryan Nations, the Ku Klux Klan and David Duke’s European Rights Organization, was re-elected to his committeeman position in the Luzerne County Republican Party, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Smith, 45 announced the results in a Stormfront post with a photograph of the results showing that he won 69 out of the 73 votes that were cast in his ward in Pittston. This is a far cry from his win in 2012 with his lone write-in vote, a win that the Luzerne County GOP admonished progressive media outlets for how they covered it. “For media outlets like “Think Progress” or others to suggest that the people of Pittston, let alone the voters of Luzerne County, support this man in any significant number is shameful and insulting to all of the residents of Pittston and Northeast Pennsylvania, Democrat or Republican,” their statement read at the time.

An article posted on the Daily Beast on Tuesday – Election Day for Pennsylvania – noted that KSS, under their other name Keystone United, were in attendance at a rally for billionaire and presidential candidate Donald Trump in Wilkes-Barre, PA. KSS members also attended his rally in the state capital of Harrisburg, where several weeks ago they were able to hold a joint meeting with Matthew Heimbach’s Traditionalist Youth Network at the Pennsylvania State Museum. Trump handily won the Republican primary in Pennsylvania.

In addition Smith and KSS has been a part of rallies against Syrian refugees coming into the state. On the KSS website, the group says that participating in such actions “were and will always be necessary to preserve the very fabric of European culture!”

The Republican Party of Luzerne County has yet to make a statement of the election.
