Pharrell Williams, Bruce Springsteen, Sia and Others to Perform Anti-Racist Concert

Shining A Light

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for a concert featuring Bruce Springsteen, Sting, John Legend, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Pink, Sia, Zac Brown Band, Jill Scott and Jamie Foxx that will be called Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America.

The show is in response to dedicated to the victims of the shooting at South Carolina’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church where nine black churchgoers were allegedly shot and killed by white racist Dylann Roof during a prayer service last June. The concert will be recorded at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Nov. 18 and air as a two-hour special Nov. 20 on all A+E Networks channels, as well as on iHeartMedia. Immediately following the concert will be a special featuring artists, including Legend and Williams, engaging residents in communities like Charleston, Baltimore, Chicago and Ferguson, the sites of recent areas of racial strife, particularly involving police.

The concert will also recognize people working for racial reconciliation and change around the United States.

Also performing are Rhiannon Giddens, Tori Kelly, Miguel and Eric Church.

“As a global media company, A+E Networks has the privilege of being invited into the homes of millions of Americans every day and believe that it is our responsibility to use this incredible platform to inform as well as entertain. By shining a light on the uncomfortable truth that racial inequity and bias still impact our society, we are looking to inspire people to go beyond short-lived, symbolic gestures,” Nancy Dubuc, president and chief executive officer of A+E Networks, said in a statement Thursday.

Tickets go on sale at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 28 on AXS.com and the Shrine’s website. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Fund for Progress on Race in America powered by The United Way Worldwide.
